filling the leadership void

Interesting to note that Al and Arnold, the former V.P. and current California Governor, ended up playing a bigger role at yesterday's U.N. summit on global warming than Condoleeza Rice did.

Interesting, but not at all surprising.

Al and Arnold both have well defined positions on the issue, unlike the Bush Administration–unless you call "wait and see" a well defined position.

According to press reports, Arnold called for "action, action, action" and Gore stressed "the need to act is now." Rice simply characterized Bush's week ending meetings in Washington D.C. as being designed "to support and help advance the ongoing U.N. discussion."

In other words: more talk, no action.

Is it too late for Arnold to wrangle himself an invitation to Bush's gathering of "major emitters"? After all, California ranks second among U.S. states (behind Texas) as a CO2 producer.
