road trip stats redux

Since my last lengthy post on road trip stats, Alisan and I have taken trips to to Sun Valley, Portland, Bozeman and now Colorado Springs. I know it doesn't sound like it, but we really are trying to reduce the miles we drive this year by at least 10%, so I thought I'd take a look at the odometer and see what the year's tally is.

To date we've driven 9,371 miles, which is actually a pleasant surprise. Given the fact that we drove 18,000 miles last year, we've got a real chance to hit our 10% less target this year!  In fact if we simply keep pace with the miles we've driven we'll be close to 15,000 miles and a better than 15% reduction in miles driven.

Of course, the other driving number we could significantly effect would be fuel efficiency. But, as y'all know, I still haven't found the next great vehicle for our needs/lifestyle, so that project is stalled.

With our home energy use on track to be down 10%, and fuel consumption headed toward 15% less, I do, however, feel pretty good about the progress we're making as a family to reduce our carbon footprint. In addition, our investments in 100% Green Power from Lower Valley Energy and an annual TerraPass for our car complement the conservation measures we've taken and reduce our carbon footprint even further.
