After not missing a daily post for 217 days, the uncertainties of a week's vacation arise. To be sure, it's a road trip: 804 miles from Jackson to Portland, Oregon. What's not so certain is how willing and able I'll be to submit a daily post. I'll do my best, and hope to write about all the good greenhouse gas reducing things that are happening in Portland.

We'll also do our best to get the best gas mileage we can; just taking one bike, and it will ride inside. I can't, however, promise we'll keep to the speed limit, after all, at best it's a 12-hour drive … no telling how long it might take if we kept it to 65 mph through Oregon.

One stat for the ledger: we just spent $650 to beef up the insulation in our home. The Lower Valley Energy audit we had last winter said our insulation was OK, but suggested we beef it up in spots, so we did–all the way to R-49 in the attic.
