Dear Honda,

I can't imagine your busy product engineers have time to read CarbonNeutralJournal.com, so I'll be sending this letter directly to you as well. The reason I'm posting it on my blog is to encourage other folks like me to take the initiative and let you know what we really want in a fuel efficient vehicle.

As my friend Sandy says:

Writing to the company is a good thing no matter what the outcome.
Let's them know what 'we' are thinking and want and pushes them along.

OK, here goes.

I've read with great interest the recent articles about Honda's "clean" diesel technology. I say bring it on. Three years ago my wife and I test drove a Honda Element, before deciding to buy yet another Audi A4 Avant. Our choice then was largely based on creature comforts–the emissions and fuel efficiency ratings of the two vehicles were very comparable.

Today our choice would skew very differently. Our need for cargo carrying capacity increases every time I get a new racing bicycle, but it's fuel efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions that are driving my quest for a new vehicle–the Audi still has a lot of miles left in it.

Over the course of the past six months, I've considered various vehicle choices, but have yet to find the perfect choice. The Prius can't haul enough, the Ford Escape Hybrid isn't as fuel efficient as I would like. That's why I'm writing to you. A bio-diesel hybrid Honda Element would be just the ticket.

So here's the question for you: is there any chance you've got such a vehicle in the development pipeline for 2009? If so, where do I sign up to be on a waiting list?  If not, when might we expect to see the perfect "SUV"?

Sincerely yours,
