sub-size it
May
That's just one of the tips that popped up while I was browsing the Live Earth website (actually you only get a new tip every time you visit the site, or refresh the page). No telling how many tips there are–#49 was the highest number I noticed. The other thing I noticed was mention of The Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook, soon to be published by Rodale Books.
Here's the promotional blurb:
The Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook presents 77 essential skills for stopping climate change–and for living through it. But this is no ordinary "77 Things You Can Do To Save The World." The Global Warming Survival Handbook is a fun, compelling, and sly deconstruction of a survival guide, teaching us not simply who to change a light bulb, but how to change the way we live-all with a great sense of humor, a grain of salt, and real science to back it up. Think of it as the Boy Scouts Handbook crossed with World Changing: A User's Guide for the 21st Century atop the Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook.
Anyway, I didn't go to the Live Earth site looking for greenhouse gas reducing tips or shopping for books–they were a bonus–I was looking for updates to the schedules and lineups for the seven concerts planned round the world on 07.07.07. First off, there now appear to be nine concerts planned: New York, London, Johannesberg, Rio De Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, Hamburg and Istanbul. Secondly, Madonna has written a song called Hey You to benefit the Alliance For Climate Protection. Finally, for those of you who really want to stay on top of the planning, there's a production blog called Going Green.
But what's this about sub-sizing? In addition to the obvious "choosing big adds up, smaller choices are almost always better for the planet, and usually cost less, too" there was a link to EfficientProducts.org, a website that researches and reports on the energy efficiency of consumer products.
It's amazing what you'll stumble across when you go looking for concert info.
