can Arnold write?
May
Two incoming emails caught my eye this morning.
The first was my dose of daily headlines from the Washington Post, which led me to an editorial calling for Bold Leadership on Emissions; it's subhed said President Bush could learn a thing or two from Governor Schwarzenegger.
The second was from Al Gore, announcing the release of his new book, The Assault on Reason.
The combination of these two missives got me thinking: why doesn't Arnold write a book about California's response to the threat(s) of global warming? He's a lot more likely to appeal to a broad audience than Al Gore is.
Oh sure, I'll read Gore's new book. And I'll probably rave about it here in the Journal. But let's don't kid ourselves. Even with Rupert Murdoch's recent epiphany, there are still a lot of nay sayers out there.
As all the hubbub over Al's inconvenient lifestyle have shown, the man is a lightning rod for criticism. Many folks will never listen to what he has to say, much less believe him.
Arnold, on the other hand, is a Republican. Who better to grow the circle than the Republican Governor of California?
Don't get me wrong, I don't view global warming as a partisan issue. But I do think it takes powerful forces on both sides of the "aisle" to come up with bipartisan solutions to critical issues. The Left has its champion in Gore; wouldn't the Right rally behind the Terminator?
So here's my thought: why doesn't someone ghost write a book about Arnold's current fight with the EPA over the regulation of tailpipe emissions. Who knows, it might even make a good movie?
