#@$%&*! phone books
Apr
Q: doesn't the use of cell phones continue to rise–in many cases at the expense of "land" lines?
A: yes, and cell phone numbers aren't listed in any phone book that I know of.
Q: hasn't the World Wide Web proven itself to be a marvelous research tool–even for such mundane uses as looking up a phone number or address?
A: yes, and services like Mapquest will even give you a map and directions on how to get to your destination.
Q: then why would I need a phone book–much less five different local/regional phone books?
A: I don't need any of them!
So here's a collective "up yours" to our local "service" providers:
- The Local Pages
- Dex, which actually provides an online option (but just try and get them to stop delivering the print pages)
- Phone Directories Company
- Yellow Book (another "service" with an online option)
- Union Telephone
If y'all provided any real service that I could boycott, I would. Instead, I just chafe every time one of your useless products arrives on my doorstep, or the shrink-wrapped pallets appear at the Post Office.
What an utter waste of paper. There ought to be a law.
