Here's a tip for cyclotourists, river floaters, sea kayakers and trekkers: take a portable solar panel with you and you'll never have to worry about your phone, camera, iPod or laptop running out of juice. Use them at home or the office to take your gadgets off the grid 24/7.

I've discovered two remarkable sources of portable solar power: one is the SolarRoll by Brunton, the other is the Voltaic Solar Bag. Both come in various sizes and/or styles. None of them, however, are what I would call inexpensive–but they just might become indispensable.
