tips for skids

Today's tip is a twofer: a lead to a blog full of lots of useful tips (and a little attitude too).

Kate Sheppard posts the occasional tip column on Gristmill. Titled Ask a Brokeass, Kate's blog is targeted for low-income environmentalists who are looking for inexpensive ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

As she said in her launch post:

If the organics section at Safeway makes you queasy and the conventional veggies section wrecks you with guilt, while even entertaining the thought of hitting the local, organic market seems far-fetched at best, lean in close. There are a lot of expensive ways to buy yourself out of a large carbon footprint, but there are plenty of cheaper ways, too.

Well, there's no Safeway in Jackson Hole, but Albertson's and Smith's produce sections are just as intimidating (and twice as expensive as any Seattle Safeway). And Jackson Whole Grocer (our local alternative market) is handicapped on both selection and price by our remote location on the eastern flanks of the Tetons. So, I'd suggest that many of my more well-heeled readers might also benefit from getting the feed to Ask a Brokeass.

The most recent Brokeass discussion focused on transportation choices; Kate's preceding entry addressed food options–for people and pets. Both posts feature lively, informed and often irreverent commentary (what else would you expect to find on Gristmill).
