100,000 lights!

As I've said before, the recent Jackson's Green Actions event provided me with oodles of good work to applaud. And no single organization has a longer list of good work to applaud than Grand Teton Lodge Company.

In fact the list is so long that Cinda Colton and Bob O'Neil read directly from their lists for the allotted three minutes and I don't think they came close to covering everything. The good news is that everything is covered within the "Envision" section of the Lodge Company's website.

Specifically, the Turning Ideas Into Action page details their use of wind power, their work with Grand Teton National Park officials to expand the use of biodiesel within the Park, local and green purchasing policies, recycling and waste reduction efforts, energy and water conservation, protection of the ecosystem and wildlife habitat as well as providing environmental education for their guests.

The only thing I couldn't find specific mention of was the retrofitting of 100,000 light fixtures within the organization–perhaps the most impressive action of them all.

That's a lot of light fixtures that are now much more energy efficient!
