There are two big learning opportunities coming up in the next few days: one is a global teach-in, the other is a local discussion and exploration of climate change initiatives.

On Sunday, February 18th, Conservation International and the Town of Jackson will co-sponsor a discussion about government, corporate and community responses to climate change issues. Mayor Mark Barron and Glenn Prickett, a senior vice president of Conservation International will lead the discussion. The event will be held  in St. John's Episcopal Church's Fellowship Hall from 7 - 9 pm. Admission is free and open to all.

On Tuesday, February 20th, Architecture 2030 is staging a global teach-in titled the 2010 Imperative. This live webcast  is intended to reach more that 500,000 folks in both North and South America, and will feature simultaneous translation into Spanish. Aimed primarily at architecture, planning and design professionals, the 2010 Imperative calls for ecological literacy in design education; it's goals include engaging the environment in design in a way that dramatically reduces or eliminates the need for fossil fuel.

Scheduled for 10 am - 1:30 pm (MST), the webcast is being hosted locally by Matt Thompson Construction and sponsored by Teton County School District's PEAK Program, Global Connections Club, The Murie Center's Teton Sustainability Project, and Green Living and Building Consulting. In addition to local professionals and interested community members, students in grades 6-12 will be attending the event at Jackson Hole High School. Please call 739.8770 or 739.9181 to RSVP if you'd like to attend the event.

For folks in other locations, or those who just can't leave their desks, click here for technical requirements and instructions for accessing the webcast.
