Yesterday's rant about ExxonMobil bummed me out.
It's not that I don't expect and respect differing points of view on climate change; it's just depressing to think that America's most profitable company has such deep pockets and an agenda to discredit prevailing scientific opinion about global warming.
So, assuming that some folks will be swayed by negative spin, now's the time to haul out Gristmill's tips on How to Talk to a Climate Skeptic. (There are literally scores of answers to stupid questions and unfounded opinions on Gristmill, these are just a few that I find to be both informative and entertaining).
- It's cold today in Wagga Wagga
- We can't even predict the weather next week
- Mars and Pluto are warming too
- What's wrong with warmer weather?
- Why should the U.S. join Kyoto when China and India haven't?
- It was warmer during the Holocene Climatic Optimum
- Greenland used to be green
- Vineland was full of grapes
- It's the sun, stupid
