It's easy for me to procrastinate or become distracted; it's fun to rant about other folks' shortcomings. Ranting is so easy and time consuming, in fact, that I've been neglecting part of my New Year's pledge–the part where I'm supposed to actually do something to reduce my carbon footprint.

So today's tip returns to basics–blocking and tackling, as my old football coach used to say. I'm going to search the house, top to bottom, and find all the sources of standby power waste; then I'm going to "fix" as many of them as I can.
