Ben Ellis Elected Teton County Commissioner

OK, I've got to admit another conflict of interest: I worked on Ben's campaign committee. But, hey, it's my journal; feel free to call me out in the comments.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I chose to support Ben because of the choices he and his wife Shannon have made:

Their two vehicles run on waste vegetable oil, which Ben "brews" at home.

Their home is off the grid, with all electricity generated by photovoltaic panels.

Ben ignored conventional political wisdom and was the only candidate who chose not to clutter our scenic resources and, ultimately, another county's landfill with campaign yard signs (all Teton County solid waste is trucked to Sublette County's landfill).

Finally, Ben proposed a three-step plan to make Teton County government carbon neutral.

Is it too much to assume that the 4,446 voters who cast their ballots for Ben favor his carbon neutral plan?
